IPL Hair Removal
Lumenis IPL Quantium Hair Removal
Tired of shaving and waxing all the time and the hairs are not getting any better???
Our Lumenis IPL Quantium is CE & FDA approved with an effective cooling system to deliver a comfortable and safe treatment.
IPL is a light based treatment that is used to treat hair removal giving permanent hair reduction. With this treatment, there is on average 70% removal as we all have dormant hairs that have not created hair shafts but can appear due to hormonal changes, medication, stress etc. Darker hair on pale skin will get the most effective results with IPL.
How it works?
The light attracts to the pigment (colour) in the hair and penetrates down the hair shaft to destroy the hair follicle. The hair treated then needs to fall out of the follicles and allow new hair to form. Over a course of treatments over a period of time, the hair follicle completely dies off and cannot regrow. Top up treatments will be needed to treat the dormant hairs.
Before Treatment
A 20 minute Consultation and Patch Test is required before any treatment is preformed. Here we will discuss with you if you are a suitable candidate for the treatment, making sure you have no medical history that can prohibit you from having the treatment done, we will explain how the treatment works and the do’s and do not’s of hair removal. A patch test is then given to the area being treated. Please do not remove the hair from the area being treated when coming in for your consultation and patch test.
Treatment
Once you are suitable to have the treatment done and the patch test was successful, you can start your treatments, a course of 6 treatments is required over weekly intervals depending on the area been treated. When coming in for your treatment, please shave the area and have no products on the skin. You will then been given CE approved goggles which must be worn throughout your entire treatment until your therapist tells you to can take them off. When the treatment is completed your therapist will apply soothing gel to the area and give you your aftercare advice for you to follow when you leave the clinic.

- Hair regrowth occurs at different rates on different areas of the body. New hair growth will not occur for AT LEAST three weeks after treatment.
- Anywhere from 5-19 days after the treatment, shedding of the surface hair may occur and this appears as new hair growth. This is NOT new hair growth. You can clean and remove the hair by washing or wiping the area with a wet cloth or loofa sponge.
- After the underarms are treated, use a powder instead of a deodorant for 24 hours after the treatment to reduce skin irritation.
- Avoid hot baths and heat treatments and treat the skin gently, as if you had sunburn for the first 24 hours.
